Installation Hero nomination process
Every day, across the installation management community, we see great examples of innovation, customer service, courage, compassion and stewardship - real dedication to serving Soldiers and Families and supporting Army leaders in mission accomplishment.
Hero of the Day recognition is an informal way to give a shout out and say thank you to those doing great work. It is also a way to share good ideas or best practices.
To nominate a person or team for recognition, provide a short narrative, a high resolution (300 dpi) photo and a consent and release form for all people in the photo.
Templates, forms, instructions and examples can be found on the Hero of the Day page of the Installation Management Community SharePoint site: https://home.army.mil/sites/operational/SC/SitePages/HoD_Ref_Page.aspx. (account required).
Submit the package to usarmy.jbsa.imcom-hq.mbx.strategiccommunication@mail.mil or to William Bradner at william.p.bradner.naf@mail.mil.
Before submitting a nomination, please make sure you are following your garrison’s processes (e.g., some garrisons require all nominations to go through the Plans, Analysis and Integration Office or the Directorate of Human Resources).
Nominees are usually recognized during the Commander’s Update Brief at OACSIM and IMCOM headquarters at 0800 Wednesdays, as well as on Facebook. Nominees may also be recognized during an installation visit.
Nominees selected for recognition at a CUB usually join the briefing via teleconference. Garrison leadership, typically the garrison commander or division head, accompanies and introduces the recognized individual.
IMCOM Public Affairs will notify garrison leadership and the individual at least a week prior to the scheduled date. IMCOM Headquarters Operations Center also contacts the nominee and the garrison or region to arrange for attendance via VTC or in person. Other recognitions are also coordinated in advance.
If nominees are not able to attend a CUB by VTC or in person (e.g., because of time zone differences), they may be recognized at the CUB at the discretion of the program manager (generally to fill in gaps due to cancellations or VTC issues).
If you have any questions or suggestions for the Hero of the Day recognition, please contact the Installation Heroes program at the same address above, usarmy.jbsa.imcom-hq.mbx.strategiccommunication@mail.mil.
