 Sea Duty Incentive Pay

Sea Duty Incentive Pay (SDIP) is designed as an incentive for Sailors to voluntarily fill gapped billets at sea by remaining on sea duty past their prescribed sea tour (PST) or curtailing their shore duty to return to sea early.  For additional information on SDIP and eligiblity requirements, see the attachments below or email MILL_SDIP@NAVY.MIL.

SDIP Voluntary Release

This is an announcement on OPNAV N130’s interpretation of policy IRT requests for voluntary release from SDIP contracts.

The SDIP Contract is the Page 13 signed by the Sailor upon approval of an SDIP Request by NPC.  Requests for Early Termination must be submitted via NAVPERS 1306/7, with command endorsement.

N130 will only accept these requests with the following included:

1. Stated reasoning for requesting voluntary release.  The emergent reasoning must be exceptional, unforeseeable and beyond the control of the Sailor.

2. A command endorsement.  This is needed because the command will be losing a Sailor before their PRD and faces possibility of billet remaining unfilled.

3. The Sailor's release request states that they agree to repay the unearned portion and agree to not pursue a waiver of debt incurred.
