CSM Richard Sullivan III
CSM Sullivan is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He entered the military on 3 December 1987 and attended basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. He then completed AIT at Fort Eustis, VA as a UH-60 Utility Helicopter Repairer. From AIT he attended Basic Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of jump school, PVT Sullivan was assigned to I Company, 3rd Infantry Division, Giebelstadt, Germany. From Germany, SGT Sullivan reported to Fort Campbell, Kentucky B Company 8th Battalion, 101st where he served as mechanic, squad leader and technical inspector. In February of 1995 SSG Sullivan was assigned to 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) where he served in various positions including Crewchief, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant. During his time at 160th, he deployed several times in support of GWOT. In May of 2007 1SG Sullivan was assigned to Multi-National Forces and Observers in Sinai, Egypt. Upon completion of his tour in Egypt, he attended the Sergeant’s Major Academy at Fort Bliss, TX. In May of 2009 CSM Sullivan was assigned to 17th Calvary Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In August of 2011 he was assigned to the newly formed 46th Aviation Support Battalion of the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade.
CSM Sullivan has attended all levels of the NCO Education System to include the Survival, Escape, Resistance and Evasion (SERE), Survival, Escape, Resistance and Evasion (SERE - High Risk), Combative Course Levels 1 & 2. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal 2nd award, Meritorious Service Medal 4th award, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal 3rd award, Army Achievement Medal 2nd award, Army Good Conduct Medal 8th award, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon 4th award, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 3rd Award, United Nations Medal, and the Multi-National Forces and Observer Medal 2nd award. His skill badges include: the Master Aircrewman’s Badge, Parachutist’s Badge, and Air Assault badge.
