Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Service provides inpatient and outpatient subspecialty care to DOD eligible beneficiaries in the areas of cardiac and thoracic surgery. The service supports graduate medical education and provides perfusion services throughout Brooke Army Medical Center.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Service provides a wide variety of cardiac interventions including coronary artery bypass, cardiac valvular repair and replacement, adult congenital cardiac surgery, and mechanical cardiac support.

Electrophysiologic interventions are available in conjunction with the Cardiology Service. Services are provided for the surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, mediastinum, pleura, diaphragm, trachea, and esophagus including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, achalasis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and thoracic vascular disease.
