What is the Georgian Mission Rehearsal Exercise?

The 43rd Georgian Infantry Battalion and U.S. Marines, in partnership with soldiers from Moldova, initiated their Mission Rehearsal Exercise, Feb. 2, at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany.

The MRE is the final portion of a four month-long training evolution in which U.S. Marines and Georgian soldiers integrate to support the NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

The Mission Rehearsal Exercise is a month-long pre-deployment training event in which the U.S. Marines work alongside soldiers from The Republic of Georgia in preparation for their deployment to Afghanistan. The exercise will test the battalion on finding improvised explosive devices, dealing with the local population and going on mounted and foot patrols.
