Department of Clinical Investigation (DCI)

Mission

The Department of Clinical Investigation (DCI) mission is to support Graduate Medical Education (GME) and facilitate improvements to health care and the introduction of new technology; while assuring compliance with federal regulations for the protection of human research subjects and for the responsible use of animals in medical research and training. The DCI facilitates and supports the entire process of research approval including research proposal preparation, submission, review, monitoring, funding and contract management of approved research, by providing program administration, education and consultation for all research activities at Brooke Army Medical Center and the four Military Treatment Facilities (Ft Hood, TX, Ft Polk, LA, Ft Sill, OK, Ft Gordon, GA) and clinics covered under its Assurances.

Location

Office of the Chief, Laboratory Services, Animal Services and Statistical Review are located at 3698 Chambers Pass (located between USAISR and SAMMC hospital).

The Research Operations Service which includes the Office of the Institutional Review Board (OIRB) and the Office of Clinical Research Education (OCRE) are located at Building 3667, behind C Lot.

Hours of Operation

0800-1600 are standard hours, although personnel may be reached outside those hours.
