In Right Place at Right Time !!!
"Diligence pays off in pursuit of post military employment especially regarding
federal employment. While Attending Hiring Hero's career fair at Walter Reed I approached
many federal opportunities in pursuit of a federal job that would suit my Military
Police Background. Of course with two kids and a wife the urgency of post military
employment was plaguing me daily. Then my career search ended by just one visit
to FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) after brief introduction and
before I knew it I had e-mail and contact information for directors and HR. A week
later I was invited for an interview and offered a GS-12 grade. The overall lesson
learned in this experience is that consistent effort and diligence put me in the
right place at the right time!! While other attempts had seemed futile I now can
relax and look forward to my new beginning as a federal employee."

My New Career
"I started seeking a job with a very poor resume, but thanks to the guidance and
counseling of the SFL-TAP program I was able to re-work my resume and send back
to XOTECH. The revised resume had a much more detailed job and work experience to
offer them. I got a better result. I was very happy with the entire SFL-TAP program
and staff they are very helpfull and willing to help and guide us through the transition.
I will actually start my new career three days after I start my terminal leave I'm
very happy for this."

Thank You SFL-TAP
"Last month, I was shipped out of Germany without so much warning. Well, I did some
stupid things, and it was too late to straightening up. I was escorted to SFL-TAP
Heidelberg. I was confused I do not remember much. The SFL-TAP advisor, saw how
bad I was feeling. I felt like my Mom was right beside me with her compassion and
understanding and it was a big help; she was not judging me. I felt the whole world
condemnation. Of all things she said I remember one thing, that when I get to my
state to visit the unemployment office right away and she said I should go back
to college in the fall. I was very embarrassed to tell anyone about my discharged
when I get home so I followed the advisor's advise. I got approved yesterday of
my unemployment benefits and I am also registered in college. I know I am going
to graduate. That one advise from SFL-TAP was a big, big help. Thank you SFL-TAP
for showing me there is hope and life after the military. My military life also
made me grow up very fast."

"I like to personally thank SFL-TAP advisors for their expertise in resume writing
and interview process for civilian employment. The SFL-TAP Center caring attitude
and selfless service to me was tremendous in me being selected for a federal employment
at III Corps, DPTMS. Prior to working with SFL-TAP I was lost and struggled for
approximately six months trying to get employed in the federal employment system,
which was my goal. I would recommend SFL-TAP to anybody who is lost and unfamiliar
the Army Civilian Personnel System. This my first job after 32 years of working
in the military. Hooah!"
