Subj: DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY (DON) ADOPTION OF THE DOD MOBILE CLASSIFIED CAPABILITY (DMCC)

Encl: (1) DMCC Cost, Schedule and Capabilities

The Secure Mobile Environment Portable Electronic Device (SME PED) capability will reach its end of life in 2014. The DON will use the DoD Mobile Classified Capability (DMCC), which reached initial operating capability in January 2014, to replace the SME PED capability. The DON will transition to DMCC once Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has fielded DMCC phones, and DMCC access to NMCI Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) Outlook Web Access (OWA) email has been enabled.

As currently configured, DMCC phones may be used for Secret voice and SIPRNET DoD Enterprise OWA email. A Data at Rest encryption solution that will enable more sensitive email and SIPR access from DMCC devices is under development. Enclosure (1) provides additional details regarding DMCC cost, schedule, and capabilities.

My point of contact for this issue is Mr. Peter Ziomek, peter.ziomek@navy.mil, (703) 695-1944. The DISA point of contact for user transition is Mr. Neil Mazuranic, neil.a.mazuranic.civ@mail.mil.
