TRICARE Health Program

TRICARE offers a wide range of informational materials to help people understand their coverage and make important health care and financial decisions for themselves and their families. Today, TRICARE unveiled the suite-wide redesign of its benefit publications, bringing a new look and a fresh approach to the materials that explain TRICARE coverage. 

The revamped suite includes a brand-new TRICARE Stateside Guide – a one-stop resource for all stateside coverage information. The guide is an interactive, searchable, web-based publication that puts all the benefit information you need at your fingertips. Features include: 

  • A breakdown of TRICARE’s program options
  • Details relevant to active duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, family members and survivors
  • Explanations of how coverage is impacted by changing sponsor status and life events
  • Details on dental options and the pharmacy benefit
  • Easy-to-read tables that highlight contacts, covered services, and more

Procedures on Responsibility of Dispensing Prescriptions at MTF Pharmacies 14-004

This memorandum clarifies procedures relating to Health Affairs Policy 04-032, "TRICARE Pharmacy Benefit Program Formulary Management," dated December 22, 2004, which remains in effect. Specifically, this memorandum is addressed to all military treatment facility (MTF) providers and pharmacies. It revalidates the requirement for MTFs to provide medications prescribed by MTF providers and restates procedures for obtaining 3rd tier (Nonformulary) and compounded medications for patients treated at MTFs.

The Evaluation of the TRICARE Program: Access, Cost, and Quality, Fiscal Year 2014 Report to Congress is provided by the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA)/Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO)—Defense Health Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (DHCAPE), in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) (OASD/HA).This evaluation report presents results trended over at least the most recent three fiscal years, where programs are mature and data permit. MHS cost, quality, and access data are compared with corresponding comparable civilian benchmarks, such as comparing beneficiary-reported access and experience to results from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), comparing our quality measures to the national expectations and results of the Joint Commission, and comparing healthrisky behavior to Healthy People 2020 objectives.

Guidelines for Suspension and Reinstatement of TRICARE Reserve Select Coverage 12-009

Policy

This memorandum clarifies the procedures under title 32 of the Code of Federal Regulations, section 199.24(d)(3) for suspending TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) coverage for up to 12 months and, upon request from a TRS member/survivor request, lifting the suspension, which will reinstate coverage with no break.
