My New Job
"During my first week of terminal leave the bombardment of e-mails and phone calls came. Some of the job offers were very appealing and others, though well-paying, less so. I was aware of an opportunity to remain in the same unit I served in my last job assignment and applied the day before my final out appointment. Honestly, I wasn't sure I was really qualified. My new employer thought I was. Even though it wasn't the highest paying offer, it is a fun job. I went back to work in a familiar environment. Also, I don't have the headache associated with re-locating a household. Admittedly, people I know helped me get hired, but that wouldn't have been enough. SFL-TAP helped me a lot with writing a resume tailored to the jobs I applied for."

Took two weeks to find a position!
"I walked into the SFL-TAP office and was immediately helped. I was offered a TAP workshop which helped me build my resume and also one-on-one assistance at the office. After my resume was built, I had an interview and a position as a Security Officer 2 weeks later. Without the assistance from SFL-TAP it probably wouldn't have worked out so well."

From military to civilian
"Attending SFL-TAP towards the end of my career gave me the tools to succeed in finding a civilian job. The training on resumix gave me the tools and knowledge to understand CPOL's writing standards. When creating a resume with resumix, it is best to use all of the maximum characters allocated. When I was creating my resume I thought there is no way possible that I could use up 12,000 characters. To my amazement, I had to much informantion and had to delete some of my experiences. All in all, I was hired as a DA civilian three weeks after submiting my resume. I might not wear a uniform any more, but I'm still supporting my fellow soldiers and the institution that helped mold me into the person I am today. So when you've reach the end of your military career, the SFL-TAP staff will work as hard as you want them to help you transition from a military career to that second career as a civilian."

SFL-TAP Works!
"The many types of assistance provided by SFL-TAP, from the initial transition briefs to the TAP workshop to the specialized classes on creating and submitting a federal resume made the process of transitioning from the familiar world of active duty military to job-hunting civilian very easy. It was great knowing what to look for on the CPOL and USAJobs websites, knowing how to use the resume wizards, and how to tailor my resume based on the job listing. In the end, it helped me find a job quickly and without trepidation. Whether you've been in for a full career and are stepping out to begin a new career or have served only your initial obligation and are ready to truly begin your life's work, SFL-TAP can provide the information and active assistance to help you get there."
