- Workshops and briefings — Programs vary from installation to installation, but you may find a workshop on purchasing a home or a tour of your new area. Pick up a schedule at your Military and Family Support Center.

Frequent moves can be part of military life, but a PCS shouldn't have you banging your head against a wall. Start planning early and reduce relocation stress by using the tools and resources available through the Relocation Assistance Program, including:
- Individual move planning — Nothing's better than one-on-one assistance from an expert. It's even more important if this is your first PCS move, your first overseas move or if you have a challenging situation, like a family member with special needs. A relocation service provider can walk you through process and hook you up with moving resources like the Relocation Budget Planner.
- Online resources — Make the Internet your go-to resource for managing and planning your move. Websites like MilitaryINSTALLATIONS and Plan My Move can help you plan ahead.
- Workshops and briefings — Classes vary from installation to installation, but you may find a predeparture briefing — sometimes called Smooth Move — that covers travel and housing allowances. You might also find a workshop on home buying or a tour of your new installation. Check with your Military and Family Support Center for a schedule.
- Foreign-born spouse support — The Relocation Assistance Program can provide information on immigration and naturalization, English language programs or advice on how to get around the local area.
- Referrals to emergency financial assistance — A move can sometimes put you in a tight financial spot. Relocation service providers can connect you with the Personal Financial Management Program on your installation or refer you to organizations that offer emergency financial assistance.
- Assistance with your final military move — You've been there and done that when it comes to moving. If you're separating from the military, though, there are special considerations for your final move. Visit the relocation office for details.
- Information on sponsorship — A sponsor can give you all the inside information on your new duty station. Check with your relocation office to learn more about the program.
