SAVANNAH, Ga. – Volunteers are still needed for Hartwell Lake’s spring Clean Up Green Up campaign occurring April 16-23. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hartwell Lake Office and the Lake Hartwell Association (LHA) partner annually to bring the “spring cleaning” effort to the lake’s shoreline and islands.
 
Volunteers are encouraged to help keep the lake clean and beautiful by disposing of trash in appropriate authorized containers, and adopting an area of shoreline or island to maintain year round. Information regarding designated trash collection locations and cleanup supplies will be provided in a future news release 7-10 days before the event.

As a capstone, campaign organizers will host a volunteer appreciation picnic at the Big Oaks Recreation Area in Hartwell, Georgia, on Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 a.m. Picnic menu items will include hamburgers and hot dogs and entertainment will feature music, door prizes and activities for children.
