About EEO
Policy
It is the policy of the Department of the Army (DA) to provide equal opportunity in employment for all persons, to prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or reprisal, and to promote the realization of equal opportunity through a continuing affirmative program.

Objectives of the EEO Program
In accordance Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the mission of the EEO Office is two-fold. To provide a full and fair opportunity for all employees and applicants, regardless of race, age, religion, sex, color, national origin, or disability, in pursuing a career with our agency. To provide for the non-discriminatory treatment of all applicants and employees of the Walla Walla District.

Affirmative Employment/Action Programs
Affirmative employment/action programs are designed to overcome the effects of past and present discriminatory practices, policies, or other barriers to equal employment opportunity in accordance with law, EEOC management directives, and DA policy.
Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program
Mediation by an outside party may be offered as a means of reaching resolution on a complaint.
DA EEO Complaints Program
An applicant or employee who feels they have been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex (including sexual harassment), national origin, age (over 40), mental or physical handicap, and/or reprisal has the right to file a complaint of discrimination with the EEO Office within 45 calendar days of the matter alleged to be discriminatory or, in the case of a personnel action, within 45 calendar days of the effective date of action.
EEO Counseling Program
The EEO Counseling Program provides the mechanism for applicants and employees within the civilian workforce to seek and obtain redress for discrimination at the informal level. Collateral-duty EEO Counselor are the first step in the complaint processing system. The Counselor makes inquiries into the specific incidents of alleged discrimination. Inquiries are designed to obtain only that information necessary to reach an informal resolution to the complaint.
Reasonable Accommodation
The Rehabilitation Act and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act require employers to provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities who are employees or applicants for employment, except when such accommodation would cause undue hardship.
Special Emphasis Programs
Women, Hispanic, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Individuals with Disabilities, and American Indian. Collateral-duty SEPM's serve as advisor to the Equal Employment Manager for the identified targeted group.
