Modifications to Levee Systems

Proposed Modifications

Permits are required for proposed modifications that affect any of the following features of the system (including, but not limited to):

• Levee Embankments
• Floodwalls
• Pumping Stations
• Drainage Structures
• Ponding areas
• Drainage channels

Call USACE for work within 50 ft of these structures

Permit vs. Letter of No Objection

A Permit is required for levee system modification by commercial interests (3rd Party)

A Letter of No Objection (LNO) is required for levee system modifications by the Local Sponsor

Permit Authority

Local Cooperation Agreements require Local Sponsor to operate and maintain their levee system in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Secretary of the Army (See 33 C.F.R. 208.10)
