Temporary bridge closures over Harlan County Dam through May 2017

REPUBLICAN CITY, Neb. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District Harlan County Dam Project Office is alerting the public to intermittent temporary road closures on the bridge over the Harlan County Dam through May 14, 2017.

WARSAW, Mo.,—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harry S. Truman Lake announce the immediate closure of Bucksaw Beach due to elevated levels of E.coli bacteria, which could cause health risks.

Orleans Trail Rock Quarry Area Closure at Stockton Lake

STOCKTON, Mo.— Due to recent trash dumping and environmental concerns, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake announce a portion of the Orleans Trail Rock Quarry Area near the Orleans Trail Campground and Day Use Area is closed to vehicle traffic. Recreational use associated with the Rock Quarry Area will be accessible by foot traffic only. The rock beach in this area is open to vehicles at this time.

Stockton Lake Announces Temporary Boat Ramp Closures

STOCKTON, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake announce temporary boat ramp closures due to low water conditions. Cedar Ridge South Park ramp and High Point ramp is closed until low water conditions improve.

Public Meeting Set for Pomme de Terre Lake Shoreline Management Plan

HERMITAGE, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Pomme de Terre Lake will host a Shoreline Management Plan scoping meeting Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pomme de Terre Project Office. The Shoreline Management Plan for Pomme de Terre Lake establishes policy and furnished guidelines for the protection and preservation of the desirable environmental characteristics of the shoreline while maintaining a balance between public and private shoreline use.

Corps Reminds Hunters of “Archery Only” Restriction

KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The fall hunting season is just around the corner and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District reminds hunters to review any recent changes in hunting regulations and area restrictions. Effective this March, the Missouri Department of Conservation changed regulations to include: allowing crossbows as a legal method during archery deer and turkey seasons; allowing the use of crossbows during the fall firearms turkey season; and removing the hunting method exemption requirement related to crossbows during the archery deer and turkey season.

Waterfowl Blind Permit Drawing Scheduled at Kanopolis Lake

MARQUETTE, Kan.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake announce the annual waterfowl blind permit drawing. The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at the Kanopolis Lake Information Center located at 105 Riverside Drive, Marquette KS, 67464.

Special Permit Archery Hunt Scheduled at Clinton Lake

LAWRENCE, Kan.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake announce the opening of the application process for the annual Special Archery Hunt at Bloomington and Rockhaven parks. Applicants will be randomly chosen and allowed to hunt in assigned, designated areas from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.

20th Annual Stockton Lake Cleanup Event Scheduled

STOCKTON, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake are teaming up with the Missouri Stream Team, National Public Lands Day and the Kansas City Frogman Dive Club to host the 20th annual Stockton Lake Cleanup Event on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 8 a.m. Lunch and prizes will be provided to volunteers following the event at noon.
