Army Corps of Engineers waives fees, holds events in observance of National Public Lands Day, Sept. 24

National Public Lands Day, the largest annual volunteer hands-on restoration activity of its kind, is Saturday, Sept. 24. The Albuquerque District is hosting five events at Abiquiu, Cochiti, Conchas and Santa Rosa lakes in New Mexico and John Martin Reservoir in southern Colorado. Day use fees will be waived. Tribal opportunities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The assistant secretary of the Army for civil works is implementing two significant actions that will benefit federally recognized tribes and their communities. Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines. [Read More]

Midwinter Bald Eagle Watch at Abiquiu Lake
