FISH Day

2016 FISH Day was scheduled for March 24, 2016.  FISH stands for Friends Improving Smithville Habitat.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Missouri Department of Conservation, Clay County Parks Department, and Burtons Bait and Tackle organize the event and request volunteers to help place large brush piles in Smithville Lake.  The event was created in 2012.  To date, the group has installed over 500 brush piles that serve as cover for fish.  This years event will concentrate on installing brush piles in the Little Platte Arm of Smithville Lake near Public Access 7. GPS coordinates and maps are available.  If you are interested in volunteering, RSVP to Eric Dennis at 816-271-3100.
