Thomson Causeway Trick-or-Treat in the Park – Oct. 15

Lock and Dam 16 Visitor Overlook Access

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Beginning Monday, Sept. 19, access to the Lock and Dam 16 visitor overlook will be restricted due to construction activities at Lock and Dam 16. The visitor overlook will remain closed during construction activities which are scheduled to conclude in mid-March 2017. Limited access to the visitor overlook will be available during special events such as the Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend, January 27-29, 2017. Corps, Partners celebrate 30 year anniversary for Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program

Reservable Campsites to Increase at Coralville Lake in 2017

IOWA CITY – The popularity of the campsite reservation program at Coralville Lake has grown significantly in recent years. In response to demand, the Corps of Engineers will add over 100 campsites to the program in 2017. At that time, all sites in Cottonwood, Linder Point, Tailwater East, Tailwater West, West Overlook, Sugar Bottom and Sandy Beach Campgrounds will be available for reservation. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance of arrival date, but no less than 2 days prior to arrival. Reservations can be made by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service toll-free at (877) 444-6777, going on-line at www.recreation.gov, using a Recreation.gov smartphone app. or making a reservation at any of the campground entrance stations. If a site has not been reserved, it is available for walk-in camping on a first-come, first-serve basis. Based on historical campsite occupancy, it is anticipated that walk-in camping opportunities will be available throughout the recreation season. [Read More]

Learn about Water Safety While Enjoying America's National Past Time

IOWA CITY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake will be sponsoring a Water Safety Night at the Cedar Rapids Kernels Ball Park on June 25th at 6:35 P.M. Baseball enthusiast are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Kernel baseball team and learn more about water safety. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will be joining Mr. Shucks at the ballpark to throw out the first pitch.
