Asharoken Beach Coastal Storm Damage Risk Reduction Feasibility Study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is conducting a feasibility study in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to evaluate potential coastal storm damage risk reduction measures for Asharoken Beach, North Shore of Long Island, New York. Existing conditions data has been collected for the study area, and preliminary risk reduction design alternative formulation and evaluation (no action, non-structural & structural alternatives) has occurred. The study team’s next step will be to determine and optimize a recommended risk reduction plan. Continued study progress is funding dependent. The study investigations, plan alternatives, and recommended plan will be presented in a future draft feasibility report. The draft feasibility report would be circulated to the public for review and comment.

Appendix F has been added to include pertinent correspondence and the draft public access plan.
November 25, 2015 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, in partnership with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC), is pleased to announce the release of the Draft Feasibility Report for the North Shore of Long Island, Asharoken, Suffolk County, New York Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study and Environmental Assessment. The public review and comment period will end on January 8, 2016.

Public Meetings
June 30, 2015 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attended a Board of Trustees Work Session to provide a status update to Mayor Gregory Letica and the Board of Trustees 7 PM at the Northport Power Plant. April 23, 2009 – The Village of Asharoken’s Mayor Patricia Irving coordinated a public meeting held at 7 PM at the Northport Middle School. The New York District Team presented information on the feasibility study status and information on regulatory permits.
