Building Strong® at Willow Creek Dam

Willow Creek DamWillow Creek Dam is located in the town of Heppner, Ore., about 45 miles south of Hermiston, Ore.

 

Willow Creek Dam was completed in 1983. It is the first major dam in the United States constructed using the roller-compacted concrete technique.

 

The authorized primary project purposes are flood damage reduction, water supply and irrigation.

Willow Creek Dam is a concrete gravity structure 169 feet high and 1,780 feet long, with a volume of 403,000 cubic yards of concrete.

It impounds a reservoir able to store 9,765 acre-feet of water.
