Back to Back Months with Record Low Snowfall

Updating an earlier feature: Like February, March will again tie the record for snowfall in Columbus with only a trace of snowfall during the month. The only other year with a trace over the past 44 years was March of 1985. Incredibly, the last snowfall of over 0.1" occurred on January 30! The last snowfall of over an inch occurred on January 28 when 4.7" fell on the city.

NAM/Satellite Data Disruption

Expect minor data disruptions/anomalies Wednesday (3/18) and Thursday (3/19) afternoons on NAM and GOES-12 products. I'll be repairing the scripts that generate these products. These repairs will address recent problems with running the 06Z NAM run and missing GOES-12 products between 800 and 1000Z. The problem with missing METAR data at the 800Z and 900Z hour has been resolved. Thanks for your patience.
UPDATE: NAM scripts fixed. Will confirm efficacy of new script with 06Z run on Thursday 3/19.

Ohio State Weather

The following forecast for Columbus, Ohio is produced by students in the Atmospheric Science and Geography programs at The Ohio State University.

Columbus Forecast

Slight chance of showers with highs in the mid 70s. Mostly cloudy with lows near 60.

Wx Synopsis

Quick impulses of energy will rotate through the region today keeping the chance for showers around. However, it looks like the best chances will be along and points south of the Ohio river, where some severe storms may fire in the more favorable environment. A cold front will push southeast across Ohio drying us out by Saturday Evening, So Mothers Day is looking like the better of the two days. Cooler temperatures, but mostly sunny skies, will stick around with high pressure through Tuesday before showers return to the forecast on Wednesday.
