NWO-2016-1316-PIE - 9/29/2016: Signature Companies, LLC requests authorization to construct the Beal’s Addition development that will impact an unnamed tributary of the Big Sioux River and adjacent wetlands. The project is located in Section 17, Township 100 North, Range 50 West, Lincoln County, South Dakota.
The proposed project consists of constructing a 25-acre mixed use area of housing and commercial development, stormwater channel, local flood management, sanitary sewer, water, and local streets. A 52-foot by 1000-foot channel with maintenance benches as per City of Sioux
Falls guidelines will be constructed for stormwater and flood management. The channel will be diverted into culverts under two street crossings. Portions of the wetland will be filled to provide 100-year flood protection of adjacent properties. A total of 2.8 acres of wetlands will be
impacted by construction of the Beal’s Addition. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a mixed use area of housing and commercial
development, stormwater channel, sanitary sewer, water and local streets. The project is needed to meet the stormwater, flood management system, and housing needs of the City of Sioux Falls.

NWO-2016-1874-BIS - 9/7/2016: The USACE, North Dakota Regulatory Office, approved the Ducks Unlimited, Inc. North Dakota Aquatic Resource In-Lieu Fee Program Instrument on March 4, 2014. The Program is used to satisfy compensatory mitigation requirements for DA permits issued under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act. DU is seeking approval of the Site Plan for the Beaver Bay Mitigation Site, which will provide wetland compensation credits in the Southwest Slope RSA. NWO-2014-00597-WEH-2 - 8/29/2016: Sandy Pointe Lake Development LLC - Additional impacts have been added to the project triggering another public notice. The additional impacts are described in the description below.
“The purposed project includes the installation of a stop log weir structure located at 41.06945oN, -96.34745oW. The structure is to prevent flood waters from Salt Creek backing up and introducing invasive fish species into the lake. In addition to the weir structure, type B rock riprap breakwaters will be installed to prevent degradation of some shorelines. The breakwaters will also act as protection for establishing wetland on the north, east, and south end of the lake. This will result in an additional 0.1308 acre of open water.”
