2016 Schedule of Events

  • Winter Discovery Series (Saturday, January 9th - March 26th, 2016)
    This year's Winter Discovery Series theme is "The Land of Opportunity"!  Please join us at 1pm each Saturday this winter to experience America's compelling history.    
  • Art Gallery (April – October)
    Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area hosts a community group of artists each month who exhibit their artwork in the Visitor Center. Visit soon to experience some very unique and creative work!    
  • Sehgahunda Trail Marathon and Relay (Saturday, May 28th, 2016) This beautiful and challenging course follows the Letchworth Branch of the Finger Lakes Trail along the eastern rim of Letchworth gorge from Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area to Portageville.   • Kids to Parks Day! (Sunday, May 29th, 2016)
    Come on down to the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area for some family fun to kick-off the summer.  This is a great way to enjoy a beautiful Sunday with children's activities, food and lots of fun!
    This event is free and open to the public, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • 11th Annual Photographer's Dream Day (Saturday, June 11th, 2016)
    A day at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area filled with photo seminars, photo walks, and interesting subjects create a photographers dream. Hosted by the Canyon Camera Club.   For details visit: www.nfrcc.org
  • "Dam" Good Trail Race (Sunday, August 14th, 2016)
    A 20k off-road running race along the Letchworth Branch of the Finger Lakes Trail beginning and ending at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area. Registration required; for details visit: www.damgoodtrailrace.com
  • Discover the Finger Lakes Trail!
    Are you new to hiking and the Finger Lakes Trail?  The Finger Lakes Trail Passport Hike system is a series of fun, easy hikes designed to introduce you to the Finger Lakes Trail.  The Finger Lakes Trail Hike #1, located at Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area, is a 1.8 mile round trip hike that starts at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area parking lot.  During this short, easy-going hike you will see spectacular views of the gorge and Mount Morris Dam.  In addition to a fun and healthy activity, you can earn awards for taking hikes like this one along the Finger Lakes Trail Passport Hike system.  Finger Lakes Trail Passport Booklets are available at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area Visitor Center.   For more information, www.fingerlakestrail.org
