Burnsville Lake to Host Living History Weekend

Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 24

Huntington, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will waive day use fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at its recreation areas in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities such as group picnic shelters. Other agencies and partners that manage recreation areas located on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to comply with this waiver of day use fees in the areas they manage. [Read More]

East Lynn Lake Looking for Volunteers for National Public Lands Day

2016 Whitewater Releases for Gauley and Russell Fork Rivers

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, has issued the 2016 Whitewater schedule of releases for the Summersville (Gauley River) and John W. Flannagan Lakes (Russell Fork River). The releases are made in conjuction with the normal drawdown of the associated reservoir to its Winter pool. Low Water Levels Affect Recreation Craft at Locks

HUNTINGTON, WV…Because of low water levels, the Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will limit recreational boat lockages on the Ohio River at three of the navigation locks – the Racine, Belleville and Willow Island Locks – and will only lock recreational craft on even-numbered hours (8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., etc.). Summersville Campgrounds Reopen

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Summersville Lake experienced its second highest lake pool of record on June 25, 2016. While cleanup and repair efforts continue, here’s the status of the recreation areas at Summersville: * Battle Run Campground will reopen for walk-in camping Friday, July 29. Reservations can be made for August 1 through September 5 at www.recreation.gov, or call 877-444-6777. * Battle Run Beach will reopen Saturday, July 30. * All other recreation areas and facilities are open to the public. This includes the Long Point Marina boat ramp and restroom, Salmon Run boat ramp and restroom, Battle Run boat ramps and restroom, Damsite Picnic Area and overlooks. * Muddlety Kayak/Canoe Launch Facility will remain closed for the season.
