Chris Klein (L), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division temporary housing program manager and Jon Wilson (R), a haul and install action officer from U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center Huntsville , give an in-brief to newly arrived Quality Assurance Representatives. QARs are deploying from throughout the Army Corps of Engineers in support of the Baton Rouge severe storms and flooding. The QARs are responsible for Manufactured Home Unit site inspection reports and inspecting the MHUs before they are occupied.

The Charleston District became the first federal agency in South Carolina to begin a bee pollinator program. President Obama and the Corps have begun initiatives to keep pollinators going in the country.

Mobile District’s first and only Certified Emergency Manager® (CEM®) Ashley Leflore reported to the district in late December 2015 as an emergency management specialist. While most people were enjoying the holidays by preparing to bring in the New Year, Leflore was eager to commence her first day of duty with the Mobile District team.

The Charleston District conducted ship simulations at the Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Miss. The simulations test the conditions of the current design for the Post 45 harbor deepening project to finalize plans for the future of the harbor.

Rehabilitation efforts continue on the Herbert Hoover Dike. The Corps continues work on 32 federal water control structures, also known as culverts, scattered around Lake Okeechobee that are seen as posing the greatest threat to the dike.
