The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District began demolition of the Route 9 bridge at Delaware City in October of 2016 and will begin constructing a new bridge in its place.

Construction continues on U.S. Army Europe-funded European Reassurance Initiative projects managed by the Corps of Engineers Europe District Sept. 7 in Tapa, Estonia. Projects including a railhead upgrade, and loading and staging areas; improvements to training ranges; motor pool wash racks and maintenance bays; and new and refurbished vehicle storage and maintenance buildings will support USAREUR, the Estonian Ministry of Defense and NATO partners. Future projects for the Army at Tapa and U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Amari Air Base are in the planning stages. In addition to Estonia, the district will manage ERI work in Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The district has more than 260 projects totaling approximately $500 million to improve airfields, military quarters, operations centers, training ranges and support facilities. This work enables U.S. and NATO partners to efficiently continue training requirements to help ensure peace and security in Europe.

Army Scouts at a Yellowstone Geyser 1912. The ranger uniform, be it National Park Service, Forest Service or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, got its start with the First Cavalry’s arrival at Yellowstone in 1886. From 1886-1916, cavalry troops were assigned at several national parks.

At a historic event held September 1, 2016 in Bayonne, NJ, various dignitaries, Congressional members, and other elected officials gathered with leaders from the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, to mark the completion of the Port’s main navigation channel deepening, a major milestone in the Port’s ongoing efforts to assure its global competitiveness, continued economic growth, and job creation.

Europe District won the 2015 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers North Atlantic Division Safety Award of Excellence. This is the district's "7th Year of Life" with zero contractor fatalities and a contractor accident rate among the lowest in the organization.
