Objective

The objective of this project was to determine the extent to which the U.S. and Coalition had met its goal to train, advise, and assist the Afghan National Army Special Operations Forces (ANASOF) to conduct combat operations.

Results

The report contains five findings resulting in eight recommendations.
 
The five findings provide information in the follow areas:
  • The progress of NSOCC-A/SOJTF-A advisors toward their goal to train, advise, and assist the ANASOF to conduct combat operations.
  • Enforcement of Afghan Ministry of Defense and General Staff published policies
  • Afghan National Army (ANA) logistics support to the ANASOF
  • ANA Special Operations Command budget authority
  • Command relationships between ANA Corps Commanders and ANA Special Operations Command units present in their area of operations
Recommendations

The report contains recommendations to the Commander, Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan and the Commander, Resolute Support, including coordination with the Commander, NATO Special Operations Component Command – Afghanistan. The intent of the recommendations is to enhance the U.S. and Coalition mission to train, advise, and assist the ANASOF to conduct combat operations.
