Wappapello Lake is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the completion of Wappapello Reservoir and Dam. April 2 will kick off a year-long celebration commemorating Wappapello Lake’s rich community and history. Everyone is invited to participate in these events. The festivities will take place in and around the lake area and offer something for the entire family.

Wappapello Lake is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the completion of Wappapello Reservoir and Dam. April 2 will kick off a year-long celebration commemorating Wappapello Lake’s rich community and history. Everyone is invited to participate in these events. The festivities will take place in and around the lake area and offer something for the entire family.
Wappapello Lake, MO is a 45,000-acre project nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains on the St. Francis River in Southeast Missouri. Completed in 1941, Wapppapello Lake annually provides an estimated $3.9 million in flood protection to agricultural lands and developed areas along the St. Francis River. In 1996, the mascot Ranger Willie B. Safe was created at Wapppapello Lake as part of a water safety awareness campaign. Selected as the 1999 Natural Resources Project of the Year, Wappapello Lake averages nearly 2.5 million visitors per year.

Wappapello Lake 75th Anniversary Special Events
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake, in partnership with the Wappapello Lake Area Association and other partners, announce the 2016 special event schedule. We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the completion of Wappapello Reservoir and Dam. Starting on April 2, 2016, we will kick off a year-long celebration commemorating Wappapello Lake’s rich community and history. Everyone is invited to participate in these events. Drones are a new and exciting technology available to everyone and can be used for many purposes. These drones can be easily acquired and range in sophistication from small children’s toys to expensive professional units with high definition video cameras. For the recreational user, it’s only natural after acquiring one of these to visit places with scenic views and interesting topographic and manmade features.

National Public Lands Day at Wappapello Lake
It's that time of year to pitch in for our public lands. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you or your organization to participate in this year’s National Public Lands Day events on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Caring individuals are asked to help remove trash and litter along roadways as well as other activities at Wappapello Lake. National Public Lands Day is celebrated annually at public lands in the United States on the last Saturday in September. A signature event of the National Environmental Education Foundation, it promotes both popular enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands. The national event is sponsored by the Toyota Motor Corporation.

24th Annual Old Greenville Days Sept 19 & 20
The 24th Annual Old Greenville Days Event will be celebrated on September 19 and 20, 2015, at the Greenville Recreation Area just two miles south of Greenville, Missouri, on U. S. Highway 67. This annual family oriented event is done in partnership with the Wayne County Historical Society and several businesses and volunteers. Included are a living history group, craft booths, magicians, old-time children’s games, a basket auction, and live bluegrass, country, and gospel music
