NWO-2016-1316-PIE - 9/29/2016: Signature Companies, LLC requests authorization to construct the Beal’s Addition development that will impact an unnamed tributary of the Big Sioux River and adjacent wetlands. The project is located in Section 17, Township 100 North, Range 50 West, Lincoln County, South Dakota. The proposed project consists of constructing a 25-acre mixed use area of housing and commercial development, stormwater channel, local flood management, sanitary sewer, water, and local streets. A 52-foot by 1000-foot channel with maintenance benches as per City of Sioux Falls guidelines will be constructed for stormwater and flood management. The channel will be diverted into culverts under two street crossings. Portions of the wetland will be filled to provide 100-year flood protection of adjacent properties. A total of 2.8 acres of wetlands will be impacted by construction of the Beal’s Addition. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a mixed use area of housing and commercial development, stormwater channel, sanitary sewer, water and local streets. The project is needed to meet the stormwater, flood management system, and housing needs of the City of Sioux Falls.

NWO-1991-70429-PIE - 8/4/2016: South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks requests Department of the Army authorization for the replacement of eroded sand and to install a hard-point to reduce erosion. The hard-point will be constructed from the shoreline out approximately 200 linear feet, with the top being 10 feet in width and slopes of 2:1. The proposed impacts are 225 cubic yards of beach sand, 965 cubic yards of clean Class B riprap and 115 cubic yards of spalls resulting in a net impact of approximately 580 linear feet of shoreline. The proposed activity is located in Section 34, Township 102 North, Range 53 West, McCook County, South Dakota. The overall purpose of the project is to return the beach to prior conditions and install a hard-point to prevent future sand erosion. The basic purpose of the project is to provide recreation.

Regional General Permit 00-05, Amendment No. 3 - 8/3/2016: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Omaha District proposes to reissue Regional General Permit (RGP) 00-05 for bank stabilization projects to protect cultural sites located in Missouri River reservoirs in North Dakota and South Dakota. This RGP is being processed under the provisions of Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 USC 403) and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 USC 1344). The District Engineer is authorized to use an alternative procedure, such as a RGP, for evaluating categories of activities that are substantially similar and would cause no more than minimal individual or cumulative adverse environmental effects.
