Jones Inlet to East Rockaway Inlet
Long Beach Island, NY
The highly developed communities along the south shore of Long Island, NY, from Jones Inlet to East Rockaway Inlet, have experienced major flooding during storms. In 1960, Hurricane Donna forced 300 families to evacuate the area. If Donna occurred today, it would cost residents over $20 million in damages (1994 price levels). In October 2012, Super Storm Sandy severely damaged the area, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. The proposed project would provide coastal storm damage risk reduction to the highly developed communities in this area.

Public Meeting
