Corporate Communications Office

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District’s Corporate Communications Office serves as the initial contact for members of the public and media for all information about the District’s programs, projects, policies, operations and activities. The Corporate Communications Office manages the District’s public information, command information and community relations programs. Our team serves in direct support of each departmental branch within the District in various ways. This includes writing press releases and news stories, taking photos and videos of various projects, event planning for major milestones, preparing speeches and presentations, and much more.

The Corporate Communications Office is responsible for the publication of the District’s quarterly magazine, the Palmetto Castle. This publication features articles and photos on the status of various projects throughout the District and recently won first place in the Herbert R. Kassner Public Affairs Awards in the Publications category.

The Corporate Communications Office is also responsible for managing the online presence for the Charleston District. This includes the public website as well as all social media channels. The District currently has a presence on InstagramTwitterFacebook and YouTube for the public to connect. Join us on these pages to get accurate, current information along with more pictures and videos than you can find in our other resources. Our social media sites allow you to interact with the Charleston District and get to know us more personally. Please engage with us on these sites and tell us how we can better serve you. The Charleston District's social media presence has won first or second place in each of the last three years in the USACE Herbert A. Kassner Public Affairs Awards in the Outstanding Digital Presence category.

In 2016, the Corporate Communications Office one the U.S. Army's prestigious Kathy Canham-Ross Award of Distinction, which recognizes extraordinary community relations contributions. The Charleston District is the first Corps district to ever win this award. The award was given for the "Pulling for Unity: Harvesting Sweetgrass in Memory of Mother Emanuel Victims" event, where local sweetgrass basket makers came to the District's Cooper River Rediversion Project and pulled sweetgrass and wove a cross in honor of the victims of the Mother Emanuel church shooting.
