Capt. Engdahl is the program manager for the Precision Strike Weapons program office (PMA-201) at Patuxent River, Md.

Engdahl is a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He completed flight training in Pensacola, Fla. and was designated a naval flight officer in 1992.

In 1993, he reported for his initial fleet tour with the “Zappers” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 130 as an electronic countermeasures officer, deploying aboard USS Dwight D. From 1995 to 1998, Engdahl attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., and the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School in Patuxent River, Md., where he graduated with distinction and was designated a naval test flight officer with a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering. After completing follow-on tours with the Naval Strike Aircraft Test Squadron and the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School he reported to USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) where he served as the assistant air operations officer from 2000 to 2002.

He was designated as an aerospace engineering duty officer in 2002.
