Colonel Bob Dixon assumed duties as District Engineer and Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District on July 7, 2016. 

He came to Little Rock District from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he was the I Corps Engineer.

Colonel Dixon was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1993 through the ROTC program at Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He also holds Master’s degrees from American Public University in Management, from the School of Advanced Military Studies in Military Art and Science, and from the Army War College in Strategic Studies.

His assignments include leadership, student and staff positions in Germany, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (three times); Fort Hood, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania (twice); Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Fort Drum, New York;  MacDill Air Force Base, Florida; Washington, D.C.; and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Colonel Dixon served in various capacities in both logistics and operations. He provided combat engineer support to armored and mechanized infantry in Germany and Bosnia, general engineering support to an Armored Corps in Texas, and sapper support to dismounted infantry supporting the Oregon Army National Guard. He learned about strategy serving as Aide de Camp at the Army War College, studied operations at Command and General Staff College and wrote war plans for a Joint Task Force in Afghanistan while serving as the Future Operations Chief.

He helped stand-up a modular engineer battalion supporting a light infantry division at Fort Drum, New York; wrote division-level plans for operations in Iraq, and helped the United Kingdom plan the completion of their operations in Iraq and their return to Great Britain. Colonel Dixon also served as a Strategic Planner at U.S. Special Operations Command, Tampa, Florida; commanded a battalion of drill sergeants who trained civilians to be soldiers at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and served as an Army Fellow at the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Strategic Studies Group, in Washington, D.C. where he was on the Megacities Concept Team. As I Corps Engineer he has traveled throughout the Pacific providing engineer support to Pacific Command’s premier land force, America’s Corp.

Colonel Dixon has deployed to Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq in support of operational and combat missions.

 His military awards and decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
