Levee Safety Program

The Detroit Distrist Corps of Engineers Levee Safety Program includes twelve levee systems across the state of Michigan and in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Levee projects designed and constructed by the Corps of Engineers are typically turned over to the project sponsors for Operation and Maintenance after construction is complete.  After construction, the Corps of Engineers implements a rigorous levee inspection process under its Levee Safety Program to ensure that the levee system will perform as expected.  For more information about the levee systems and current inspection status, please visit the national levee database.
