South Atlantic Division


 
The South Atlantic Division hosted an annual Leaders Emeritus meeting Sept. 13 with current and retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers leaders. Among those in attendance were retired SAD Commanders Maj. Gen. Ernie Edgar, Maj. Gen. Phil Anderson, Maj. Gen. Mike Walsh, and Brig. Gen. Joe Schroedel; retired USACE Deputy Commanding General Maj. Gen. Robert Griffin, former SAD Planning Director Wilbert Paynes, former members of the Senior Executive Service including Ken Akers, Tony Leketa, Tom Waters and current USACE Command Sgt. Maj. Antonio Jones. 

Current SAD staff, including Commander Brig. Gen. C. David Turner, Command Sgt. Maj. Michael McIntosh, Director of Regional Business Dr. Larry McCallister and Acting Director of Programs Susan Whittington, were also in attendance. 

The keynote speaker was Maj. Gen. Clarence K.K. Chinn, commander of Army South, who heads a region of strategic importance to the division. Chinn’s presentation included a video of his professional philosophy and a discussion on several services SAD provides to Army South. Eddie Belk, chief of operations and regulatory within the Directorate of Civil Works at USACE headquarters, also provided an overview of challenges and opportunities concerning civil works infrastructure.
