Mission

MISSION: To provide overall direction, management and oversite to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program for the District Commander.

The EEO Office administers a comprehensive EEO program for the Detroit District. The program is provided through the direction of an EEO Officer and six Special Emphasis Program Managers  and provides direction and feedback on the development and implementation of the district and region Affirmative Employment Plans. It also administers the Corps of Engineers Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program for both informal and formal EEO complaints.

The EEO counseling program is designed to provide the initial step when considering a complaint of discrimination. A person who believes he or she has been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, age, physical or mental handicap, national origin or reprisal, as it pertains to EEO, must consult an EEO Office when trying to resolve the matter. The EEO Office must be contacted within 45 calendar days of the alleged discriminary incident.

The EEO Officer will assign a counselor to the employee. The counselor is free to make whatever inquiry believed necessary to resolve the complaint on an informal basis and counsel an aggrieved person concerning the merits of the matter. If a matter is not resolved to the satisfaction of the aggrieved person, the person may file a complaint of discimination with the EEO Officer or the Director of EEO. Complaints with the Director of EEO should be mailed to:
