Col. Timothy M. Greenhaw assumed command
of the U.S. Army Environmental Command in July 2016, following service as
Deputy Director for Chemical and Biological Technologies Department at the
Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
A native of Red
Wing, Minnesota, Col. Greenhaw received his U.S. Army Chemical Corps commission
in 1992, serving as a Battalion Chemical Officer in Korea before reassignment
to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was a Platoon Leader, then as a Division
Artillery Chemical Officer for the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North
Carolina, and as 21st Chemical Company Smoke/Decon (Airborne) Commander. While
assigned to the 472nd Chemical Battalion in Chicago, Illinois, he became a
Battalion Operations Officer and served as 82nd Airborne Division Deputy
Chemical Officer and a Division G3 Training and Operations Officer before
becoming Battalion S3 and Executive Officer for the 4th Infantry Brigade, 82nd
Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. There, Col. Greenhaw also served as 18th
Airborne Corps Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Operations Officer, then
deployed to Iraq for 14 months. Returning to Fort Bragg, he served as the 18th
Airborne Corps’ CBRN Operations Officer before his assignment to Yongsan, Korea
as 8th Army CBRN Officer; and Executive Officer to the Commanding General, 8th
Army/Chief of Staff, UNC/CFC/USFK. Col. Greenhaw served as Commander, Pueblo
Chemical Depot from 2011 to 2013, followed by his assignment as Executive
Officer, Technical Inspections Division, U.S. Army Inspector General Agency
through July 2014.
Col. Greenhaw
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environment Policy and Analysis from
Bowling Green State University, Ohio; a Master of Science in Administration
from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Science in National Resource
Strategy from the National Defense University. His military education includes
Airborne, Air Assault, the Chemical Officer Basic and Advance courses, Combined
Arms and Services Staff School, Jumpmaster, Command General Staff College,
Inspector General Course, and the Eisenhower School for National Security and
Resource Strategy.
Col. Greenhaw’s
awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service
Medal (three awards), Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), Army
Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Achievement Medal (two awards), the
Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Iraq Campaign Medal
Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service
Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, the Air Assault and
Senior Parachutist Badge.
Col. Greenhaw
is married and has three children.
