April 27, 2016 - PASCAGOULA, Miss. - The construction of the future USS Frank E. Petersen, Jr. (DDG 121) is officially underway at Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard. The milestone, which signifies the first 100 tons of steel being cut, was marked with a ceremony held in the shipyard's fabrication shop.

February 25, 2016 - ANACORTES, Wash. - The Navy's Auxiliary General Purpose Oceanographic Research Vessel (AGOR), R/V Sally Ride (AGOR 28), successfully completed Builder's Trials Feb. 21 off the coast of Anacortes, Washington.
February 16, 2016 - PASCAGOULA, Miss. - The future USS Portland (LPD 27) was successfully launched at the Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) shipyard Feb 13.

June 15, 2015 - SAN DIEGO - The Navy's first Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB) variant of the Mobile Landing Platform, USNS Lewis B. Puller, delivered to the Navy today. Built by General Dynamics NASSCO, delivery of the ship follows a series of at-sea tests and trials in San Diego.
March 19, 2015 - SAN DIEGO - The LPD 17 class program (PMS 317) Program Executive Office, Ships completed installation of light emitting diodes (LED) bulbs on USS Somerset (LPD 25) Feb. 27, replacing legacy shipboard fluorescent light bulbs with longer lasting, more efficient LED bulbs.
December 22, 2014 - WASHINGTON - Today, the Navy awarded a contract for the towing and dismantling of the decommissioned aircraft carrier Ranger (CV 61) to International Shipbreaking Ltd.
