10th Fleet Personnel Selected to Participate in Leadership Development Program
By U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet Public Affairs - February 12, 2016
FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (NNS) -- Four U.S. Fleet Cyber Commander/10th Fleet personnel have been selected to participate in the U.S. Navy's Navigation Leadership Development Program (NLDP).

NLDP is a Navywide initiative that seeks to develop high-performing information warfare civilians into competitive candidates for future leadership roles.

The selectees from U.S. Fleet Cyber Command are Karl Terrell and Ozzie Cornejo; from Naval Network Warfare Command, Steve Davidson; and from Navy Information Operations Command Norfolk, Jacob Freiburger.

"I'm sincerely proud of these cyber warriors," said Matthew Swartz, executive director and chief information officer, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet. "Our civilians are a critical part of the team. NLDP is an opportunity to both recognize performance and potential, while supporting the development of our cyber workforce."

The three-year program is designed to cultivate and mature executive competencies through learning curriculum, leadership forums and executive coaching.

"I view participation in this program as a tremendous professional development opportunity," said Terrell. "It will help me meet my professional goal of promotions to positions of greater responsibility."

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in career-broadening opportunities, such as joint duty assignments, executive shadowing, and short-term rotational assignments.

"I hope to gain a better understanding of my weaknesses and develop mitigation strategies to turn them into strengths," said Terrell. "I am also very excited about the mentorship opportunity offered by this program."
