Brigadier General Michael J. Warmack is currently serving as the U.S. Army Reserve Command Operations, Plans and Training. 

BG Warmack’s previous General Officer assignments include Deputy Commanding General – Effects, 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) and Deputy for Operations, Office of the Defense Representative, Pakistan. BG Warmack is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland and a 1986 graduate of the University of Maryland.

Commissioned as an Infantry Officer, BG Warmack served 8 years in airborne and mechanized units to include Company Command and a deployment to Operation DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. Designated FA 39 Civil Affairs (CA), BG Warmack served in Army Special Operations Command troop unit assignments in various positions to include CA Team Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, Battalion Commander, and Brigade Commander.

Assigned to Special Operation Command, he served dual-hatted as the Special Operations Team Chief and Senior Military Advisor to U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

BG Warmack deployed twice in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM serving first as the C9 Civil Military Operations Principle in the Coalition Joint Civil Military Operations Task Force and most recently as the Director of Civil Military Plans and Operations, Region Platform South, Department of State.

In support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, BG Warmack served as the Deputy Commander Task Force Seminole assigned to the Coalition Force Special Operations Command.

BG Warmack has conducted or supported civil-military engagement in multiple countries worldwide, to include extensive experience integrating the elements of national power (Diplomacy, Informational, Military, and Economic), as well as leading interagency collaborative problem solving at all levels.

BG Warmack’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University; Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College; and a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy State University.

BG Warmack’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit (2 Awards), Bronze Star (3 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 Awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Army Achievement Medal (3 Awards).

He also holds the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Ranger Tab.

BG Warmack’s interagency awards include the Meritorious Honor Award from both DOS and USAID.

BG Warmack is married to the former Laura DeAtkine with two children; Marlena and Brendan.
