Command Sgt. Maj. K.
Antonio “Tony” Broadnax enlisted in the Army in 1988. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual
Training for the Military Occupational Specialty of 92Y, unit supply
specialist, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Command Sgt. Maj. Broadnax has served in every leadership position from supply clerk
to sergeant major.
His previous assignments
include: supply clerk and armorer in the 38th Combat Engineer
Company, 7th Engineer Brigade, VII Corps, Stuttgart, Germany; supply
clerk and sergeant in the 324th Forward Support Battalion, 3rd
Brigade, 24th Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia; supply
sergeant and platoon sergeant for Golf Co, 52nd Aviation Regiment
(AVIM), 194th Maintenance Battalion, Camp Eagle, Wonju, Korea;
Battery Supply Sergeant, Battalion S4 NCOIC and Platoon Sergeant for 1/10th
Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry
Division; Battalion S4 NCOIC and Staff Platoon Sergeant for 101st
Military Intelligence Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Wurzburg,
Germany; Regimental S4 NCOIC for the 29th Infantry Regiment, Fort
Benning, Georgia; Brigade Senior Supply Sergeant for the Infantry Training
Brigade and First Sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Infantry
Training Brigade, Fort Benning, Georgia.
He deployed from Fort Hood, Texas with Task Force ODIN (Observe, Detect,
Identify, and Neutralize) as the Task Force S4 NCOIC and later as first
sergeant for the Army’s first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company. Upon return from Iraq, he was assigned as
first sergeant for Echo Company, 30th Adjutant General Battalion
(Reception) and later, he served as first sergeant, Headquarters and
Headquarters Company where he was selected to attend the United States Army
Sergeants Major Academy. Upon graduation, Command Sgt. Maj. Broadnax moved to Korea, serving
as the Brigade Operations Sergeant Major and interim Command Sergeant Major for
the 501st Sustainment Brigade, the largest Sustainment Brigade in
the Army. He was assigned as the Department Sergeant Major for the Logistics
Training Department within the United States Army Quartermaster School, Fort
Lee, Va. His previous assignment was as the Garrison Command Sergeant Major for United States Army
Garrison Okinawa at Torii Station.
Command Sgt. Maj. Broadnax’s military
education includes the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Air Load
Planners Course, Movement Officer Course, Senior Leader Course, First Sergeant
Course, How the Army Runs Course, other professional development courses and
the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 62. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree
from Troy University.
His awards and
decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (second award), Meritorious Service
Medal (seventh award), the Army Commendation Medal (fourth award) and the Army
Achievement Medal. He is a recipient of
the Orders of Saint Martin (Quartermaster), Saint Barbara (Field Artillery) and
Saint Maurice (Infantry).
