Most of our work is performed at DIA Headquarters, located along the Potomac River at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C.  However, we also deploy globally to support the warfighter during combat missions. Depending on what you are looking for, there are opportunities and experiences reaching from Capitol Hill to Afghanistan. Below you will find more information about our presence with the U.S. Combatant Commands, the U.S. Defense Attache Offices, and our multiple locations in Virginia, Maryland and Alabama.

U.S. Defense Attache Offices, Worldwide

On 1 July 1965, the Defense Attaché System officially came under the Director of DIA. The objectives of the DAS under DIA are twofold: to provide a more efficient system for the collection of intelligence information for DoD components and to preserve a channel for Service-to-Service and DoD representational matters of common interest worldwide.  If you are an adventurous person and enjoy international travel, you could be a support assistant at one of our U.S. Defense Attache Offices located at a U.S. Embassy. We have a variety of positions in Europe and Latin America that require language proficiency, for example secretaries or bilingual research technicians.

U.S. Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Worldwide

At DIA, we offer a number of opportunities at the nine different CCMDs, organized along a geographical or functional basis. In one of these exciting assignments, you would play an active role in supporting the global missions of various military branches. Rivanna Station – Charlottesville, VA

The DIA Field Support Activity at Rivanna Station, an interagency facility and our second largest contingent, is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, VA.

At Rivanna Station’s opening ceremony, Maj. Gen. Mary A. Legere, commanding general of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, captured the attitude that many of our employees in Charlottesville have. She said, "I asked one of my people that now works at Rivanna how things were going. He replied, 'I thought I died and went to heaven, but I really am living and working in Charlottesville’.”

Fort Detrick – Frederick, MD

Our medical intelligence analysts, support professionals, and support assistants can be found at the National Center for Medical Intelligence, located at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, MD.  At the National Center for Medical Intelligence you can do critical work monitoring and analyzing health events against the scenic backdrop of Western Maryland’s mountains.

Redstone Arsenal – Huntsville, AL

DIA employs a variety of engineering analysts, support professionals, and support assistants at the Missile & Space Intelligence Center (MSIC) located in Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
