Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division is the Navy’s center of excellence for in-service engineering and integrated logistics support for surface warfare combat and weapon systems.

Our employees work with the latest technology in support of systems such as the Aegis combat system, ship defense systems including the Rolling Airframe Missile and Nato Seasparrow, land attack ship missile systems such as Tomahawk, vertical and guided missile launching systems, gun weapon systems, combat systems software, and underway replenishment.

The majority of our personnel work at the Port Hueneme site, situated on the Southern California coastline midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, at Naval Base Ventura County in the city of Port Hueneme. Our detachments (off-site locations) located in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and White Sands, New Mexico comprise the rest of the workforce.

    The workforce of NSWC PHD consists of civilian and military employees whose focus is the safe and effective operation of weapon and combat systems for the Navy.

    With two off-site locations (detachments), the command supports the Navy with In-Service Engineering, Test and Evaluation, and Integrated Logistics Support. In addition to Port Hueneme, California, the command offers 

     

    • Search radar engineering at Virginia Beach, Virginia
    • Live-fire and directed energy testing at White Sands, New Mexico

     

    The command employs over 2,000 civilian and military personnel throughout the three sites.
