Safety

The Safety Office at U.S. Naval Base Guam manages the Navy's Occupational Safety and Health (SOH) program, which includes annual inspections of all facilities, abatement of workplace hazards, sight & hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, respiratory protection, mishap prevention, weight handling safety, and indoor air quality, for all military personnel, their dependents, and civilian employees. The Safety Office also provides oversight to civilian contractors aboard the Naval Base. The Safety Office is also responsible for the Traffic Safety Program to include Motorcycle Safety classes. Additionally, it manages the Recreation, Athletic, and Home Safety Programs by inspecting the gymnasium, fitness center, playgrounds, and basketball courts. Monthly Department Safety Representative meetings are held to discuss safety concerns and needs of Naval Base personnel. A Quarterly Safety training calendar for SOH and Traffic Safety programs are published listing the Safety classes available. The Safety Department is located in Installation Safety Annex 404 DZSP-21 and can be reached at 333-2190.
