U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches second year of Every Kid in a Park program

WASHINGTON (September 1, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it will continue its support of President Obama’s initiative, the Every Kid in a Park pass program, which officially begins its second year today. Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines. [Read More]

Corps of Engineers seeks comment on plan to restore aquatic habitat in Prince George’s County

The Baltimore District, in cooperation with Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, is seeking comments for a 30-day period, beginning June 1, 2016, on a plan to restore aquatic habitat in previously-degraded streams along six sites in the Anacostia Watershed in Prince George’s County. The combined restoration will restore approximately 7 miles of in-stream habitat, 4 miles of fish passage on the Northwest Branch, and connect 14 miles of previously-restored habitat from other restoration projects. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches new water safety campaign -- “Life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns”

WASHINGTON — Every year thousands of people in the United States mourn the loss of loved ones who could have survived if they had been wearing a life jacket while spending time on or near our nation’s waters. To heighten awareness for the use of life jackets, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recently launched a new water safety campaign titled “Life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns.” USACE, in cooperation with the Corps of Engineers Natural Resources and Education Foundation, a non-profit foundation established to support USACE natural resources and recreation programs, developed the campaign that targets adult males. Senior leaders meet, discuss VA hospital construction progress

A senior level progress review for the Replacement Medical Center for the Veterans Affairs Eastern Colorado Health Care System in Aurora, Colorado, was held February 11.
