DISA Announces Video Series for the National Background Investigation System
By CHIPS Magazine - September 14, 2016
This informational video series addresses a new, high priority mission for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA): the National Background Investigation System (NBIS).

DISA was tasked by the federal government to design, develop, secure, and operate an IT system to conduct background investigations for employees, military, and government contractors. The investigations will be conducted by the National Background Investigation Bureau (NBIB).

The objective of the video series is:

  • To inform industry, stakeholders, and other federal agencies on DISA’s approach to replacing and modernizing the legacy background investigation system.
  • To project potential acquisition opportunities for both small and large businesses.
  • To give our industry partners an understanding of the technical architecture to strengthen request for information responses and communications.

Video segments are:

  • Introduction to NBIS
  • NBIS Acquisition Overview
  • NBIS Capabilities
  • NBIS Architecture Overview
  • Summary of NBIS
  • Questions may be directed to the DISA NBIS Program Management Office at disa.meade.sd.mbx.nbis-pmo@mail.mil.
