This course is presented to allow contractors to meet Corps’ construction contract requirements for the training of contractor quality control personnel. Corps of Engineers Guide Specification CEGS-1451, entitled “Contractor Quality Control”, April 1997, requires approval of the contractor’s quality control manager being contingent upon the successful completion of this course.

Course Information:

Training Length: 16 hours

Video Run Time: 1.25 hours

Purpose: This course familiarizes contractor personnel with Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management concepts and procedures.

Description: This training is divided into these areas of instruction: (1) Introduction; (2) Contractor’s Review; (3) Quality Management Planning; (4) Preconstruction Conference and Coordination Meeting; (5) Submittals; (6) Quality Management during Construction; (7) Making the System Work; and (8) the Resident Management System. Each module is further divided into sub modules.

General: This course is a facilitated video course containing eight modules, which are further divided into sub modules. Each module/sub module includes an introduction, a short video clip, and a short reading segment followed by class discussion. This course is designed to involve the student in the learning and teaching process by interaction, relevant examples and active participation. A practical exercise is included where students are divided into teams, which then hold a preparatory control phase meeting.

Students will be provided with a student workbook. To successfully complete this course, the student must be present for all sessions and achieve a passing grade of 70 on the written test given at the end of the course. A certificate will be issued to all students who satisfactorily complete the course. This certificate is valid for 5 years.

Costs: There will be no charge for courses that are taught at the district offices. There is a charge of $149/person ($129 for AGC members) for courses that are facilitated by the AGC of Iowa.

Note: Cancellations will be refunded, less a $25 administration fee, if requested within 7 business days prior to the class date. No refunds will be issued for cancellations after that date. Substitutions will be allowed.

Notice: Any class is subject to cancellation if there are less than 10 confirmed Registrants within 2 weeks of the scheduled date of the class. Priority will be given to those students that are working on present or projected contracts in Mississippi Valley Division.
