Commercialization & Transition
MDA's Commercialization and Transition program provides assistance to small research firms to transition their new technologies into a very competitive market place. Most small research firms lack the resources to make the jump from technology development to market place penetration. MDA works to provide the needed support to acquire non-SBIR funding for phase III contracts.
Benefits to small research firms come in the form of a revenue stream leveraging intellectual property from SBIR and other government research and development funding, shorter time to market, and a broader customer base. The MDA benefits by having technologies advance and mature in the marketplace, firms remaining healthy financially until technologies are needed for the Ballistic Missile Defense System, tax dollars not spent on projects that are not feasible, and a healthy small business base which is a key component of the strength of the U.S. economy.
