The Role of Military Leaders in the Transition Assistance Program

The Role of Military Leaders in the Transition Assistance Program

Getting ready to transition from active-duty service to the civilian sector? The Transition Assistance Program and your military leaders can help. You don’t have to go it alone.

Here are just a few ways the Transition Assistance Program supports the command and the military mission:

  • Assists recruiting efforts by producing successful alumni who recommend and support military service
  • Decreases unemployment by preparing service members for civilian employment
  • Increases retention by providing realistic and accurate information on job searches and veteran benefits, which encourages some service members to stay on active duty

Military leaders can help you transition smoothly by providing both information and support as you prepare for military separation. To make the most of this experience, find out how your military leaders can give you a leg up on your return to civilian life.

Getting out of the military and transitioning to the civilian sector can prove trying for service members and their families, but you don’t have to go it alone. Plenty of guidance and resources are available through the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program, as well as from your military leaders. Your leaders provide information and support, and ensure you have sufficient time off to attend workshops and counseling sessions.
