Legal Services |
Administrative/Civil Law
- The
Garrison Attorney serves as the primary resource for
the Commander and Directors of US Army Garrison-Miami,
for general legal advice; provides legal review of
administrative actions and policy issues, serves as
installation environmental law expert, provides advice
concerning Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act,
and advises Boards of Officers, 15-6 Investigative
Officers, and Report of Survey Officers.

Client Services/Legal Assistance
- While the
primary role of the Garrison Attorney is to assist the
Garrison Commander and Staff, assistance is available
to Miami military ID card holders in the areas of
Claims, Legal Assistance, and Taxes.

USAG-Miami does not have a dedicated Legal Assistance
Office. However, Legal Assistance is available
on a limited basis to active duty personnel
assigned to USSOUTHCOM and USAG-Miami. The Garrison Attorney can advise you on most
personal legal matters, such as wills, powers of
attorney, divorce, custody support, consumer
affairs, tax, and landlord/tenant issues.
However, the Garrison Attorney not
authorized to represent military ID card holders
in civilian courts. To schedule an appointment
please call (305) 437-1734 and leave your name,
telephone number, and the issue for which you
are requesting assistance. You will be contacted
as soon as appointments may be scheduled. Once
you have a scheduled appointment, please bring
below listed items to the appointment, if
applicable:
1. Copies of all pertinent paperwork.
2. Contact information, personal information for
all parties concerned.
3. A chronology of events up to the date of the
scheduled appointment.
4. Any other documentation or items that may
assist the attorney in providing the best
possible legal assistance.
- If an appointment needs to be rescheduled

the appointment.

Tax Center
-
The
USAG-Miami Tax Assistance Center is
located in the Installation Services Building, Room E2081.
Off-season tax assistance is available following
the procedures set forth for legal assistance on
the legal assistance page.

During Tax Season, taxes are prepared and e-filed at
no cost to Active Duty, Retirees and Family Members in the Miami
area.

Claims
- The
Claims Office investigates claims against the
Government, evaluates medical care, property damage
and carrier recovery claims, adjudicates and settles
claims against the U.S. Army, prepares claims on
behalf of the U.S. Government and investigative
reports and recommendations in support of litigation,
reports operational statistics and budget data, and
examines and adjudicates claims under the Military
Personnel and Civilian Employees Claims Act (MPCECA)
incident to their government service. US Army Garrison
–Miami does not have a Claims Office. The USSOUTHCOM
Transportation Office is available to answer question
and provide advice on filing a claim at DSN: 567-3580

Criminal Law
- The Trial Defense
Service represents soldiers at Courts-Martial, and
advises soldiers on Article 15s, administrative
separation boards, and other adverse matters. All
Defense Counsel Services for US Army Garrison –Miami
and USSOUTHCOM are provided by US Trial Defense
Service, Region II, 3rd Infantry Division Field Office

- The
Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, U.S. Southern
Command handles all Military Justice issues for the
U.S. Army Garrison–Miami and USSOUTHCOM military
communities, to include advising Commanders on UCMJ
and adverse administrative actions, prepares Article
15s, reviews separations packets, and coordinates for
the prosecution of soldiers at Courts-Martial. Please
